Waking up in your Hello Kitty onesie, the Netflix Leverage marathon having ended hours ago, you see your two besties (Thing 1 and Thing 2 as you lovingly call them) equally disheveled on the living room floor. It’s time to take Saturday by storm. Thing 1 wants to get Boba or doughnuts (the correlation between the two is unknown to all except her)–newsflash we end up getting neither Boba nor Doughnuts. The normal 45 min morning routine takes 3.5 hours because giggling, Instagramming and reviewing Snapchat stories takes priority. Heading out the door, the 1st stop is Urth Caffé located at 451 S Hewitt St.
Filled with greens, veggies and the love of your life, chickpeas (there’s no time to discuss the love these nutty little morsels inspire) it’s time to head to LACMA – Los Angeles County Museum of Art. 5905 Wilshire Blvd. Lights, rain and silly string…oh my! This is accessible art, where you don’t feel hemmed in and unable to talk laugh and enjoy. You resist going to the children’s museum side (because adults playing in a children’s museum usually prompts stares of concern) and enjoy the amazing and interactive exhibits.
The final stop is a manifestation of happiness, joy and sugariness, Dylan’s Candy Bar at 6333 W 3rd St. The smell of sweetness smacks you in the face at the door and guides you through every aisle with a candy bag in hand.
Frolicking in LA-LA-land, especially with your very own Thing 1 and Thing 2 is the best way to spend a Saturday (or Monday through Friday). Your bag of Macarons, fudge and hello kitty lollipops makes you feel like you had an accomplished day. The goal is to get indoors before the sugar high comes crashing down and you end up disoriented in Barnes and Nobles again (another story all together). How do you like to spend your weekends?
